LOCALITATION
The province of Córdoba is located in the geographical centre of Andalusia (latitude 37 50’44” and longitude 04 50’23”), in the south of the Iberian Peninsula and 400 kilometres from Madrid. The city is situated on the banks of the Guadalquivir, a key element in its development. The river crosses the territory from east to west and divides it into two almost symmetrical regions: Sierra Morena, to the north, and the Campiña and the Penibética area, to the south. This location makes the capital of Córdoba, which has 325,916 inhabitants, stand out for its good climate throughout the year.
TRANSPORT AND COMMUNICATIONS
Córdoba is connected by AVE (high-speed train) to the main Spanish cities: Seville, Malaga, Granada, Ciudad Real, Madrid, Zaragoza, Barcelona and Valencia. By road, Córdoba is the main node of the Spanish highway system that links Madrid with Andalusia via the A-4 (Madrid-Cádiz), and the National Highway that links Badajoz with Granada, that is, the southeast with the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula. The connection with Malaga and the Costa del Sol is via the A-45. And it is located just over an hour from the main international airports in Andalusia (Seville and Malaga).
CULTURE AND HERITAGE
Córdoba is the perfect destination for its history, tradition and the immense value of its historical and cultural legacy, backed by four UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Mosque-Cathedral, the Old Town and the Jewish Quarter, the Festival of the Patios, the Caliphal City of Medinat Al-Zahara and an extensive programme of leisure activities make this city a unique destination.
ACCOMMODATION
Córdoba has 73 open hotels of all categories – from five stars to guest houses – offering 6,856 accommodation places, and has several projects underway to increase the number of hotels and rooms. The size of the city makes it easy to get from these hotels to the Córdoba Exhibition, Fair and Convention Centre, and also to the main monuments and attractions of the city.
ACCESIBILITY
Córdoba is incorporating important improvements in terms of urban and architectural accessibility and is becoming one of the most inclusive tourist destinations in Spain, both for people with reduced mobility and for neurodiverse people, with vision or hearing problems. In the last year, architectural barriers have been removed, audio-described and typhrological resources have been introduced in spaces such as the Julio Romero de Torres Museum, and Navilens codes have been translated into 34 languages at taxi and city bus stops.
